how to care for your xmas tree
Caring for your Tree
Water your tree daily and follow our tips for your tree to be fresh through the festive season
1. Refresh the tree by making a straight cut across the base, taking 2cm off the stump before you place it into a stand with water. This simple measure will better enable your tree to absorb sufficient water and maintain its freshness.
2. Place your tree in a Christmas tree stand and top up the stand with water eacy day. Our Castle Tree Nest takes 6 litres of water; our Robust Tree Nest takes 11 litres of water. XMAS Trees can drink up to a litre of water a day. Use clean, fresh water.
3. If you do not wish to put your tree up immediately, store it in a cool place out of wind and sun in a bucket of water.
4. Check water level daily. If the water drops below the trunk, the trunk may seal itself and not be able to absorb water and the stump will need to be cut again. Regular water will keep your tree fresh, and our Christmas Tree Preservative (sold at Tilba Farm) will help with water absorption and pine needle retention. On really hot days, you can lightly mist the needles with water. Use a spray bottled filled with fresh, clean water.
5. Place your tree away from sunlit windows, television sets and other heat sources- they’ll dry out your tree prematurely. Avoid draughty locations. Try to place your tree in the cooler part of your room to maintain its freshness.
6. If properly cared for, as above, your TILBA FARM XMAS Tree should look and smell beautiful for up to 4 weeks.
